Our June end of the year bucketfilling big event was held at the Secaucus Pool.
The top two students in grades 2-6 earning the highest number of golden tickets were
invited to come with us to the pool to enjoy a few hours of FUN!!!

Clarendon Arts and Music Festival

The festival included the chorus, rock band, drama club, dance club and recorders. There were food trucks, bouncy houses, raffles and all the proceeds went to St Jude Research Hospital. Thank you all who came out to support this fantastic event.

Peacekeeper Club News
Clarendon School's Peacekeeper Club had a school wide Character Education Poster contest. There were two winners chosen, one from K-3 and one from 4-6, and runner ups. The students were asked to choose a pillar of character, either: respect, caring, kindness, trustworthiness, responsibility, and fairness.

Clarendon School Announces Educators of the Year
Mr. SteveViggiani, Principal of Clarendon School is proud to announce that Ms. LucyBiegler(left), Literacy Coach and Ms. KimWoeckener(right), Science Teacher - have been named Clarendon School's Educational Services Professional of the Year and Teacher of the Year, respectively.

Meet Ms.Biegler
Ms.Bieglerhas been working at Clarendon School for 23 years. She taught Pre-School, Kindergarten, Fourth Grade and Third Grade prior to becoming the Literacy Coach.

Ms. Biegler has a Masters Degree in Reading Specialization, a Principal's Certificate, an Orton Gillingham Certificate from the Multi-Sensory Institute and is currently working on her practicum to receive her Dyslexia Certificate.

Meet Ms. Kimberly Woeckener
Ms. Woeckener has been teaching for 24 years. She began her career teaching third grade for one year in Texas before moving to Secaucus. Ms. Woeckener started at Clarendon School 22 years ago teaching Science and Art. She later moved to first grade before being appointed to her current position as the elementary Science teacher. Ms Woeckener has a Masters Degree in Education.

SPSDAnnouncesHIBSelf-Assessment Scores for 2014-2015
According to theAnti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act of 2011, all school districts must annually engage in a self assessment to gage performance in preventative and responsive measures to incidents of Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB). Out of 8 possible criteria, each school in the Secaucus Public School District individually scored a 76 out of 78 possible points. Subsequently, the district scored a 76 out of 78.The official document is attached here.

Congratulations Clarendon School!
The Clarendon school students are making strides in their reading by taking part in the Rashad Jennings Reading Challenge.

Bradley Worman and Purav Jhamatt in Mrs. Knapp's kindergarten class won authentic autographed sneakers by NYGiant's player Rashad Jennings!

The Hudson County Academic Bowl
Secaucus Places 2nd in the County!

On Monday, April 13, 2015, students from Clarendon and Huber Street Schools participated in the Hudson County Academic Bowl. The venue for this event was Woodrow Wilson School in Weehawken, New Jersey. The districts in attendance were North Bergen, Weehawken, Secaucus, Harrison, Bayonne, Union City, Hoboken and Kearny. Each district arrived with a team of five 6th grade academic bowl competitors and one 6th grade alternate competitor. The event consisted of three rounds of middle school level questions and each round consisted of 25 questions. During round one, Secaucus competed against Harrison and moved up to the next round based on this win. In round two, Secaucus competed against Weehawken and advanced to the finals based on this victory. In the final round, Secaucus and Bayonne took the stage one last time. During the finals, Secaucus placed 2nd to Bayonne placing 1st. The following districts were awarded medals and trophies for excelling in this event: Bayonne 1st Place, Secaucus 2nd Place and Weehawken 3rd Place. Good sportsmanship was exemplified by all during this collaborative academic competition.
